The first meeting is always a home visit to observe the animal’s behavior in its every day environment. During the visit all members of the houseld should be present to get individual perspectives and multiple opinions on the pet’s problematic behavior.
The initial consultation lasts from 1.5 – 2 hours and relies on detailed questions about pet’s behavior problem, the relationship between the pet and each family member as well as other animals, its diet, medical history followed by determination of the origin and mechanism of the behavioral disorder and defining a treatment plan. After the first visit the owner receives a summary of the meeting together with a step-by-step action plan. Afterwards we keep in touch for 4 weeks to make sure the behavioral modification program is working correctly. After one month we evaluate the effects of the therapy and together with the animal’s owner determine the need for further consultations.
